Puzzle Terms Explained
A short guide to words you'll often encounter when looking into name puzzles. Take a look before you order.
- Engraved Wooden Puzzle
- A wooden puzzle with letters or pictures engraved into the surface of each piece. The engraved marks are clear, so people often choose it when they want to keep a name or date for a long time.
- Educational Wooden Puzzle
- A wooden puzzle designed to practise shape recognition, hand-eye coordination, and step-by-step thinking as pieces are fitted together. It is good to consider the number and size of pieces suited to the child's age and hand size.
- Laser-Cut Wooden Puzzle
- A puzzle made by cutting wood with a laser, which usually gives intricate piece outlines and an even fit. Check the finish for any leftover soot or splinters along the cut edges.
- Custom Wooden Puzzle
- A wooden puzzle made to reflect content chosen by the customer, such as a recipient's name, a picture, or a message. The design and piece layout are often confirmed before production begins.
- Custom Wooden Toy
- A wooden toy adjusted in colour, shape, size, or lettering to suit a child's tastes or purpose. Even the same product may need different conditions depending on where it will be used.
- Wooden Puzzle Gift for Children
- A wooden puzzle chosen to suit a child's developmental stage and interests and given as a present. For safety, first check that there are no small parts that could be swallowed and that the edges are smooth.
- Custom Wooden Puzzle Ordering
- A method of placing an order by specifying the size, lettering, picture, and number of pieces, and then producing the puzzle to those details. Checking the text layout and spelling carefully before ordering can reduce the number of revisions needed.
- Name Puzzle for Infants
- A puzzle in which a baby's name is divided among individual pieces. It can serve as a tool for learning letters and helps the child recognise their own name.
- Engraved Name Keepsake
- A keepsake with a name or date engraved into the wood to help mark a special day. Messages are often chosen to match occasions such as a first birthday celebration, school entrance, or birthday.
- Wooden Puzzle with Engraved Name
- A wooden puzzle with a name engraved or printed onto its pieces, helping a child become familiar with their name naturally. It is important to check in advance that the font and size are easy to read.
